Chelsea Kent: Bio

Chelsea Kent is a nineteen-year-old singer/songwriter/musician from China Spring, TX.  She began writing songs when she was nine years old with her first song “Stand Tall”.  She plays the piano and has recently started playing the guitar and has already written several songs on it. Chelsea writes several different genres including Christian, Pop-Rock, Pop-Country and Instrumentals.

Chelsea is currently a member of ASCAP, GMA, Texas Christian Songwriters Association (TexasCSA), Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI), Podcast Safe Network, SongPlacements, Sonicbids, CDBaby, Reberb Nation, and Garage Band. Some recognition that Chelsea has received is being awarded Runner-Up for VH-1’s Song of the Year for March 2009 submissions for her song “How Did I Deserve This Now?”. She was featured in the National Society of High School Scholars June 2009 newsletter as a recognized member in the art of music. She helped organize a complication CD of young Christian artists in the Central Texas area where the proceeds went to the non-profit organization Friends for Life which is located in Waco and helps provide assistance to the elderly. She was on the compilation CD “Unified by Grace” produced by Quickstar Productions where the proceeds went to a medical mission in Uganda to help combat malaria. She was contacted by Quickstar Productions again to be on a second compilation CD entitled “A Call to Heal” which will also benefit the Ugandan mission. Also, a radio station in the U.K. asked her to be on a compilation CD “Best of Royalty Free Music”. She attended the Gospel Music Association Immerse conference in July 2009 in Nashville, TX and learned a lot about songwriting and the music business. She also sang at a benefit concert in November 2009 for Aware Central Texas which raised over $5,000. ACT is a non-profit organization that helps prevent child abuse.

She attends Belmont University in Nashville, TN where she is majoring in songwriting and getting a minor in music business. She plans to be a songwriter and possibly pursue a career in music entertainment.

Her latest album “Find The True Meaning” is a reflection on life and love.
